Jesse represents motor carriers and logistics companies on all their transactional matters. Jesse advises executives and management teams on governing law and business arrangements to successfully fulfill service obligations on the front end and to understand potential liability exposures of operations on the back end. And to do that, Jesse draws upon his varied and deep experience in the industry.
Jesse’s services cover a wide range of areas affecting transportation companies. Jesse advises on corporate entity structure and governance, focusing on risk management for transportation operations. Jesse’s practice includes the management and direction of mergers and acquisitions within the transportation and real estate industries, having overseen due diligence from the sell-side in his roles as in-house attorney to leading small market deals on the buy-side in private practice.
Jesse’s day-to-day services also involve the drafting, review, and negotiation of routine but material customer and vendor agreements, as well as complex 3PL and 4PL contracts within the dynamic brokerage, warehousing, and managed services spaces. Jesse handles commercial transactions for accounting and operations such as purchase and sale of assets, leasing, and financing agreements. Jesse regularly negotiates customer and vendor agreements, such as shipper-carrier and technology contracts. Jesse advises on regulatory and risk matters, from the FMCSA’s Truth-In-Leasing Regulations to employee misclassification issues and delivers real experience in the creation and analysis of owner-operator and independent contractor driver arrangements. Jesse also handles cargo disputes.
Jesse comes to Taylor Nelson PL from Bennett International Group LLC, a diverse suite of operating entities led by their legacy national heavy haul carrier, where Jesse was Vice President of Legal. Jesse has worked as an in-house attorney as General Counsel and in other capacities with national motor carriers on the West and East Coasts, beginning with the LTL carrier, Watkins and Shepard Trucking, Inc. in Missoula, Montana, to the bulk tank carrier, Quality Carriers, Inc., in Tampa, Florida. However, this is not Jesse’s first time in private practice serving the needs of the transportation industry, as he had previously served transportation clients in private practice with previous firms. Jesse is a licensed attorney in the states of Georgia and Washington. He lives in the Atlanta area. Welcome Jesse!
